Founded in 1981 and renewed in 2017, AMMA makes tailored garments in the Serra do Açor — with the patience of an old trade and the discipline of a modern factory.
Our story
Four decades of making clothes the right way.
AMMA began in 1981 as a tailoring workshop in Arganil, in Portugal's interior centro. For decades it did quiet, careful work — the kind that builds a reputation slowly, one well-made garment at a time.
In 2017 the company was relaunched and modernised: new investment, new equipment, and a clear ambition to become a serious manufacturing partner for fashion brands looking to produce in Europe. The craft stayed; the capacity and rigour grew around it.
Today AMMA 1981, Têxtil S.A. runs a full production chain under one roof with a team of around 180 — pattern makers, cutters, machinists, finishers and quality inspectors who have, in many cases, spent their working lives in this trade.
Milestones
The short version.
Founded as a tailoring workshop in Arganil.
Relaunched and modernised — new investment and equipment.
~180 artisans, ~50,000 garments a year, full chain in-house.

The region
Made in the Serra do Açor.
Arganil sits in the Serra do Açor, in the interior of central Portugal — a region of mountains, slate villages and a long textile heritage. Manufacturing here means stable, skilled employment for the community, and a supply chain that never leaves European soil. It is a quieter place to make clothes, and a better one.
